November’S new moon…
We welcomed a new moon in Libra on Monday, November 13th, in the midst of India’s 5-day festival Deepavali, ‘The Festival of Lights.’ In India, this is a time of puja, gift-giving and the lighting of oil lamps to signify the radiant awareness of one’s own inner light and its triumph over darkness.
This festival coincides with the week of the year when the Sun and Moon are both near their zodiacal weak-points. This can create disturbances in the mind, emotions, our sense of confidence and a positive connection to life. Rituals that invoke brightness, hope, warmth, belonging and a sense of life’s abundance bring natural balance. What does this look like for you? It may be lighting candles, or practicing tatrak (candle gazing meditation), connecting with loved ones, gathering around a fire, or feeling the warmth of the sun on your face.
May you kindle the light within!
