September New moon

The New Moon greets us later this evening in Leo. She sits in Poorva Phalguni Nakshatra symbolized by part of a hammock. Just as a hammock can bring a bit of pleasure to a necessary activity (rest), themes this month revolve around blending leisure and utility and encourage us to enjoy life while also taking care of practical matters. This may align well as summer draws to a close- a season that encourages us to play- and Autumn- one that may draw us back to routine of work and school. At its best, this alignment encourages productivity while making space for enjoyment. However, given the alignments around there’s also a risk of overly focusing on material resources, particularly those belonging to others.

Ruled by Venus, Poorva Phalguni is known for its allure, passion, and ambition though other planetary influences could draw us into a narrow-focus and out-of-character choice around others’ resources getting us into tricky situations. Our ability to reason and keep our emotions balanced could be behind this. Some simple practice to keep us balanced and grounded in our choices and actions are sama-vritti or nadi-shodhana breathwork. You may find Kalesvar mudra (pictured above) during a breathwork practice or anytime throughout the day to help clear any conflicting thoughts. This new lunar cycle challenges us to stay in our highest character- onward and upward friends!
