Mantra and meditation for clearing and protection

OM… said to be the sound or vibration of the universe or sometimes expressed as AUM  whose three syllables represent the cycle of creation, maintenance, and destruction is a mantra we may have heard or uttered during a yoga practice.

Mantras have origins in multiple traditions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Christianity

Meditation with mantra is simple yet powerful. At a practical level, this practice of repeating a sound or word provides something for the mind to focus on, which can quiet its fluctuations. Mantra is something that can be incorporated whether a meditation practice is new to you, your going through a time when it’s more challenging for the mind to find stillness or if you’re simply wanting to add a layer or perspective to your meditation practice.

On another level, vocally expressing and feeling the vibration of these ancient Sanskrit syllables connects us with the ancient yogis and sages who have come before us- and is something sacred and universal. The mantras below support us inn letting go  and building boundaries which Vedic astrology guides us to do this moon cycle.

Aad Guray Nameh

As Yogi Bhajan says” When you cannot be protected, this mantra shall protect you. When things stop, and won’t move, this makes them move in your direction.”

Chanting this mantra can be thought of building a shield around your energetic and physical being. It can be chanted when stepping into a challenging situation or if you’re feeling stuck.

Om Namo Guru Dev Namo

This mantra is one that calls on our inner wisdom and can bring clarity amidst confusion. It can be chanted at the beginning of a medication or yoga practice to help see past vritti (chatter) or maya (disillusion) of the mind.

Om Namo

Guru Dev Namo

I bow to the Creative Wisdom

I bow to the Divine Teacher within

These are a few of many possibilities. We’d love to hear what mantras or affirmations are calling to and in you in the comments below!
